Expectant moms are usually excited to pick out all of the new clothes and toys that their babies will play with and thus take the time to pick the right ones when shopping for baby products online. Moms should use the same amount of care when choosing the products that will go into their little one’s mouths. Safe baby bottles are a must have for baby, and moms should learn about which materials are okay to use when feeding their babies. When shopping at a baby online shop, it can be easy to pick the bottle with the cutest design, but it’s more important for moms to look into the materials used and see if the bottle is safe.

Don’t forget that your baby will have some say in the bottle that he or she ends up choosing. Babies often look at their bottles as a source of comfort, and they’re often choosy about which nipple they will take. When you do locate some safe baby bottles, just make sure that you get a variety of different nipples that you can try on them. Your little one will end up latching on to the one that feels most comfortable to him or her.  This is an example of why it is best to not purchase numerous bottles of the same type or a kit.  Stick with individual styles first to determine what your baby prefers.

Plastic vs. Glass Baby Bottles

A lot of new moms choose plastic bottles because they aren’t breakable. While these are great benefits, it’s important for moms to also consider how plastic bottles could end up contaminating the formula in baby bottles. Some plastic bottles made from polycarbonate contain a chemical called bisphenol-A. Studies have shown that this chemical can actually leach into a baby bottle and contaminate the formula. Ingesting this chemical could be really bad for your little one, as it could cause some significant health issues. If you prefer the convenience of plastic bottles, just make sure that they are safe baby bottles with none of these harmful chemicals in them.

If you want to play it safe, then look for glass baby bottles when you are shopping for baby products online. These bottles can be trusted because they don’t contain harmful chemical. Also, glass bottles can actually do a better job of retaining all of the nutrients in your baby’s formula, so it’s better for your little one. Many glass bottles are made with a protective sleeve to add durability to the bottle and prevent chipping and breaking.  An additional bonus is that you won’t have to replace them as often, as long as they don’t break or chip.

Tip!  When your baby outgrows glass baby bottles, you can always recycle them.
