One of the most important pieces of baby furniture you’ll ever own is your baby’s crib. From birth to around 15 months, your little one will spend a lot of time here, and while most of it will be time spent sleeping, it’s important for you to keep your baby’s crib clean at all times. While your baby’s crib doesn’t need to be free of toys, you do need to make sure that you don’t accidentally drop anything in there, such as baby lotion or baby wipes, from your changing table. Anything foreign in the crib when baby is sleeping can be a health and safety hazard. A clean baby crib will help make certain that your little one stays healthy, so you’ll want to devote some of your time to the task. Fortunately, keeping a crib clean isn’t a very arduous task. With just a few minutes of work every day or every other day, you’ll be able to keep baby’s crib squeaky clean!

Changing Your Baby Sheets

One of the major parts of keeping your baby’s crib clean will involve making sure that the sheets, blankets, and pillows are kept are washed regularly. If your baby spits up or has an accident in the crib, you’ll want to wash it as soon as possible to ensure your baby’s health and comfort. One thing that you need to be careful of is how you wash your baby’s bedding. For starters, you’re not going to want to mix it with other clothing, and you’ll want to be careful about which detergent you use. Just as babies can be sensitive to certain types of baby lotion, they can also be sensitive to detergents. You should opt for a mild detergent that won’t harm your little one’s skin, and this should work to keep your baby’s crib nice and fresh. If you’re worried about the wood, plastic, or metal on your baby’s crib being dirty, simply wipe it off with a soft cloth and a mild disinfectant that you’re sure won’t cause breathing problems for your baby.

Quick Checks for Bedtime

Babies, no matter how small they are, can always make messes, so it will be important for you to check the crib over before you place baby down for a nap or for bed at night. You may have even left a bottle of baby lotion sitting in the crib after a nap-time massage or your baby may have made a little mess on his or her own. Just spend a minute or two scanning the crib to ensure that nothing needs cleaning. If you smell something a bit funky, you may want to take a closer look and make sure that baby hasn’t left a surprise for you in crib!
