Understanding Separation Anxiety from Baby Lotion Maker, Baby Magic. Separation anxiety is something that a lot of babies experience, and it’s something that can cause parents a lot of stress. Most parents want to spend every waking moment with their little ones, but this is not always possible given that most new moms have to return to work. While separation anxiety is something that is normal, it is still frustrating for parents and their little ones to deal with. If you can spend some time learning how to ease separation anxiety, then you may be able to save you and your baby a lot of stress.

In the first few months of your baby’s life, you’re likely to be an active presence. Whether you’re breastfeeding your infant or giving a baby massage with baby lotion, you’ll likely be in contact with your little one for most of the day. When you need to return to work, this is usually the time when separation anxiety will set in. Your baby may cry and show other signs of severe distress when you leave. Here are some great tips to help you minimize this anxiety:

  • Ease into things. If you know that you’re going to have to return to work soon, make it a point to try and ease your baby into some time without you. If you just abruptly leave to go back to work without ever having left your baby before, the anxiety he or she feels might be too much. It’s better to take baby steps with something like this.
  • Choose the right caregiver. If you have to leave your baby to return to work or school, then you should choose a caregiver that your baby can trust. You may be able to leave your little bundle of joy with a grandparent or aunt. The more familiar your little one is with the caregiver, the more you will be able to ease the separation anxiety.
  • Make your time count. If you do need to leave your little one for significant amounts of time each day, you should focus on other ways that you can increase your bond. Make it a habit to spend some close, extra special time with your baby. Whether it’s taking a little extra time to rub baby lotion on your infant after a bath or reading an extra story before bedtime, this will show your baby how much you care.

After a while, your baby will grow out of this stage and you’ll both feel a lot more at ease. Do your best to learn how to ease separation anxiety and spend as much quality time with your baby as you possibly can.
